My life & Family

"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there." ~Amy Li

These are my two beautiful sisters, Heidi(top) and Teresa(bottom). Naturally we look like each other; however, the resemblance is almost creepy in a way. We're pretty much clones of each other that have different tastes.

I love my sisters, and although we get into arguments like most sisters do, I know that they always got my back.

My sisters are beautiful, unique, and wonderful mothers of my nieces and nephew. (Teresa is having a baby girl--so excited for baby Emery to come into the world!) And just wonderful people in general.

Heidi: Beautiful mother of two beautiful girls, runs her own business(which is VERY successful) and is like the flamboyant peacock of the family. She's a leader, a giver, and cares about everybody in the family. I reference her as my wannabe second mom at times.

Teresa: The Beautiful mother of a handsome little boy and soon to be mother of a darling little girl. (: She's known as the mother Teresa of our family. (Yay play on words!) She's a wonderful baker/cake designer(which she should do that with her life instead of her current job) and a great listener. I remember many talks we've had over stressful events in my life and I love living so close to her in case I need anything.

<3 Your little Sis.

The anniversary of 9/11 and how the even affected me

Although living in the Midwest, 9/11 didn’t have a sense of a close direct hit towards my familiar surroundings, it did have a HUGE impact on me. I remember in 5th grade, I was sitting at my desk at Twin Cedars Elementary when a teacher came into the room crying, saying two planes had hit the twin towers. It was then when a tv was brought into the room and we all watched in horror, the smoke billowing out of the building. It was the most serious thing that had happened in my life thus far.

My brother, Luke Conner, was enlisted in the United States Air Force years before, is how 9/11 sort of opened a window into the next fear that was going to come into my family. The war against Iraq. When President Bush declared an action of war, many military families were affected, and mine was one of them. Countless times he was sent over to the bases in Afghanistan and Kuwait, and ever time he was unharmed. My family was lucky that my brother was in a career that was very well protected. Him being a mechanic and worked on the air crafts and tanks, they kept those men very safe on the bases.

Last spring, my brother was diagnosed with Factor 5 blood disorder, which is when your blood clots real quickly. Apparently, lots of Americans have this in their genetics and they dont know it, it is rarely tested for. Some nurses and physicians dont know much about it, because its rarely a cause of majorly affect your health. Both of our parents are dominate donors of this gene, which meant that my sister Heidi, Luke, and I were diagnosed with it as well.(Even though I’m unofficial cause I haven’t been tested.) All of us have a heart murmur, and coincidentally, those who had a heart murmur had this disorder. Well, the military dismissed my brother on a medical discharge, and on September 30,2011 he will be home back in Iowa.

The after 9/11, my brother and I bounded closer and separates us at the same time. I would go 2 or 3 years without seeing him, only phone calls connecting the family. I love my brother, and thank God every day that the war didn’t take him like it has to the fallen soldiers of many Iowa families.

My handsome brother in his blues (:
