Fall Fashion Trends
Black zebra stripes, leopard print, sparkles, and black lace are roaming the streets fall 2011 as a new trend breaks through in the fashion world.
This new craze introduces textured and colored tights to the world of jeggings and leggings, making girls of all ages intrigued to try this new trend out and find their individual style.
“I think it’s very cute, edgy, and will show off a lot of different personalities,” says Amie Hale, manager at Maurices in Indianola.
Maurices has a good inventory for customers who would like to try the trend , including three colors of leggings and six patterns for tights.
“It really depends on the season, in the fall it’s the animal print we sell a lot of, but in the winter I think it will be the lace,” says Hale, as she adjusts something on the counter.
Currently, Hale is promoting the trend, along with boots with the jeggings, sweater dresses with leggings, and burnout shirts.
“I think leggings are pretty much a staple in every girl’s closet,” says Hale with a smile,” it’s just something every girl needs.”
Kate Chamberlain and Selena Woodson, current Simpson students, are proud wearers of the trend going on this fall.
“I love this trend, its more comfortable, affordable, and cute clothing,” says Woodson.”With these different types of clothes it’s super easy to make a simple outfit look cute and stylish.”
Woodson says her style is colorful, creative, simple, out-there, and organized and gives advice to fashionistas interested in trying this style.
“Make sure to wear clothing that compliments your body shape. Don’t wear these items and make your outfits look scandalous or inappropriate,” Woodson says,” When in doubt keep it simple, don’t think too hard to find items to go with your leggings and tights…. Just throw something on and work with it, I’m sure it will end up cute and stylish.”
Floral patterns, coral colored shirts, and chunky necklaces best describe Chamberlain’s style along with boots. Whether they’re long boot to ankle boots, Chamberlain has many colors in various styles.
“My advice for anyone who wants to try these styles - just start playing around with things in your closet. Pair together things you wouldn’t think go together,” says Chamberlain.
Chamberlain says that jeggings look like jeans and can be worn with any top that would look nice with skinny jeans, though she personally feels a bit awkward in them. On the other hand Woodson proudly says she wears all of them.
Hale smiles and explains, it’s a popular look and everybody is trying them on.
“A lot of people normally don’t come in wearing this look, but they’ve seen it on an advertisement or somewhere and are essentially interested in the look,” says Hale, “It’s defiantly a growing trend, and you’re going to see a lot of tights this year and will be staying around for awhile.”
